Week 2

Hello all who are reading this! This is Blair Lewis reporting from Tarapoto, Peru! I believe I had left off on last Friday. Well I shall now update you all as to what has happened till now (Thursday). On Sunday our team ran the children’s church section of the service with the exception of me and Josh. Last Wednesday I was asked to preach on that Sunday and I agreed so I did that. I preached one of the sermons I had used on my previous team on Hope. Josh did an excellent job at translating it for me. From what I heard the rest of the team had a blast with the kids having fun singing songs and doing dramas and illusions for them. On Monday we headed out to the village of Tabalosos. Which was an hour’s drive from Tarapoto. We did 2 programs at a school in the morning and afternoon. First for the high school then one for the elementary school. There were at least a couple hundred kids at each program. We had a blast sharing the gospel with them and having fun with a Frisbee, soccer ball and rope tricks afterward. On Tuesday we did a street program in the evening in a soccer field. Our stage was actually partially on top of a fire ant hill. The ants did not like this so much! Josh got a few bites on his ankles but he is a tough guy. The lighting we had there was pretty interesting. It consisted of a small street light. But in order to get power to it one Peruvian actually just jammed the loose wires into a power outlet… I don’t know if I could do that! We had a small audience and it appeared that it was a lot of work for such few people. But in the end one of the people watching accepted Christ into his life. Which goes to show that even if we did a program for 1 person and if all sorts of things go wrong. God can still use it for his glory. On Wednesday we had an opportunity to work on a new program we are developing. Delwin had asked us to do a program for the youth of the church based on purity. Because that is something that the youth of Peru struggle with. So we decided to develop a program just for them! Also the youth have been joining us on weekends and nights for our programs. They have been a huge blessing with helping set up and talking with the people because only 2 of our team members are fluent in Spanish. I mentioned in the last blog that the schools have been shut down. Well I think that God allowed this to happen so that we can build strong relationships with the youth and missionaries here. I believe that God has brought us here to encourage and help the missionaries in any way we can. Because there are so many broken hearts here in Peru that they feel overwhelmed. I have only been here for a week and I feel overwhelmed sometimes. So please pray for the missionaries here that they would continue to look to God to be their strength. Well that brings us to today (Thursday) It is our day off now and I have no clue where my team members went! I think they are all sleeping! All of the team sends their love and greetings to their families and friends and supporters. Until next week, Ciao!

PS. Jeremy will be continuing to put up pictures and updates on our video journals.
